I am drawn to Playback Theatre because I love the stories that people share - the tender, funny, courageous and profound stories that people so graciously offer. I am proud to work with the talented and truly good folks in our company. We are a family - doing our best to love and support one another as we make our way in our lives and as artists.

Sarah Halley
My passion is using playback theatre as a vehicle for social change. I also lead workshops for white people who want to understand their racial identity and the privileges that go along with it, and how to be a better ally to people of color. I hope to offer that work to playback theatre performers and teachers in the coming year, along with trainings on social awareness and PT, which I have already been offering. Finally, I am learning about how to integrate playback theatre into whole systems change work in organizations, and would love to network with others doing that work.

I’m glad to be part of playback since the original company was started in 1975. So much has happened around the world since our beginnings in a church basement in Beacon, NY. I celebrate the evolution and development of a form and philosophy that is a force for connection and understanding among people. I realize I’ve been doing playback performances for the public for almost 35 years – more than half of my lifetime! Home company: Community Playback Theatre, New Paltz, NY.
