The Tenth International Playback Theatre Conference 2011
from shore to shore...
Act One: The Invitation
When: November 2011
Where: Frankfurt on Main, Germany
Contact: <email obscured>
Dear Playbackers of the world,
We extend a very warm invitation to you to come and join us in 2011 at the IPTN
International Playback Theatre Conference.
In pre-Christmassy Frankfurt, we'll be having 5 packed days of Playback,
exchanging stories and making (or renewing acquaintance) with Playback
Theatre's many faces!
Right now, we're planning, co-ordinating and gearing up to provide other kinds
of support, and we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch and let us know
what questions or special requests you have, or what you would like to offer.
Your hosts will be the Playback Theatre association for the German-speaking
area, the Playback-Theater-Netzwerk e.V.
Questions and answers about timing:
Why in Frankfurt?
- Frankfurt has the largest airport in the German-speaking area, with
reasonably priced flights to world destinations.
- good public transport, lots of (multi) cultural life
- there are a number of PT groups in Frankfurt to support the conference
organisation
- accommodation in the Youth Hostel (extremely central, on the river, near
museums and restaurants and transport, large accommodation capacity, very
reasonable deal on prices and seminar rooms)
Why in November? Why not spring or summer?
- Frankfurt has a lot of trade fairs and this time is free of fairs, so less
pressure on accommodation
- the end of November is the traditional time for the German-speaking area
annual gathering
- the Youth Hostel, an ideal venue, is not available for such a large group in
holiday times
- we hope that PT people from the USA may make this a Thanksgiving holiday!
How much will it cost?
No more than the previous conferences, and very likely less, though the
financial crisis will affect us in ways we can't predict. As a non-profit
association we can try for deals to keep costs for attendees as low as
possible. We will let you know!
